Building Concepts in Math

An exploration lesson in math last week had us building concepts for area.  We tiled several surfaces with different objects and named all the things in our classroom and our world that were tiled.  We also did lots of attribute block sorting to find shapes that fit a particular rule and shapes that did not.  This lesson helped us practice using lots of language for describing the blocks (thick, thin, large, small).
