Highlights of the Week

Using dominoes to write turn-around facts

Turn-around facts from dominoes

Playing "Grab a Coin" to reinforce odd/even numbers

Mr. Rowe and Ms. McCarren help us review important fire safety information.

This kind firefighter knew we'd love his infrared camera.

He even took a picture of us with it - so cool!

We found out that a firefighter's coat is VERY heavy!

Chief McCarren explained many features of the fire truck to us outside.

We learned about the many tools available on the truck.

Everyone always loves a chance to get into the truck!

Mrs. Buchan helped us learn to give "inside" compliments during guidance this week.

October is here!  Lots of new books for us to read on our book display.

We practiced close reading work with nonfiction texts about ticks and insects.

We used the text to answer multiple choice questions and short answer questions also.

Our completed compliment web from guidance.  We all took turns giving each other compliments .

This anchor chart is helping us remember the steps to a good retelling.

Student samples of our first retells
This anchor chart helped us identify the craft "moves" of master author, Jane Yolen.

Our first beetle emerged on Friday morning.   Lots of pupas formed this week so many more beetles are in our future!

Students have been tracking the progress of their mealworms for weeks now!
