Highlights of the Week

We had our first Woolwich Way assembly of the year to celebrate students who are showing characteristics of Respect, Responsibility, Courtesy, Compassion, Honesty and Quality.

Students explored illustrations to think about how characters might be feeling.

We examined illustrations to label the feeling we saw in the character, and then wrote what they must be saying and doing.  This was to help us develop our narrative writing skills.

In math we found all the combinations that equal 10.

On Tuesday Chief Maccio told us all about the fire truck.  You need to be good at math to be a firefighter!

Everyone got a chance to climb up into the truck.  

The firefighters passed around their helmet so we could see how heavy it is.  It's pretty heavy!

It was good to see what they look like in their gear so we know not to be afraid of them.

We used manipulatives like dominoes to practice odd and even.

In math we used a domino to illustrate the turn around fact rule.

We practiced odd and even with a partner.

Most  days we do shared reading with a new poem to build fluency and learn new vocabulary.
