Highlights of the Week

We read lots of realistic fiction this week to help us prepare to write our own.

On Friday we welcomed many grandparents into our class!

Getting to sit at a special table on the stage at lunch?  Very exciting!

Before we began our realistic fiction series we spent some time brainstorming possible problems and solutions that could happen in real life.

Students are busily reading picture books for Picture Book Month.  We've read over 322 books in our class so far.

As we finished our insect study, we defined ways that an insect's body parts helps it to survive.

Each student had a packet to help them create their realistic fiction series character.

They then used a graphic organizer to plan out their first book.

It was helpful to think about the character in detail first!

This student writes her first realistic fiction book, with her planning sheet close by to help her use her organizer  to create a strong story.
