I somehow left school without my computer on Friday evening, so I apologize for the delay! Here's some of our special moments from last week.
:) Beth
One of our mealworm friends happened to hatch during snack time on Friday so we all gathered around to see it emerge from its pupa.
The Woolwich firefighters came to see us. Here we are learning about the tools they use.
Everyone always likes their turn in the truck!
We got to check out the ambulance too. The EMT was once a second grader in Mrs. Pols's class!!!
Looking through the infrared tool was pretty interesting!
In our scientist's notebooks we explored ways that an insect's body parts help them survive.
We captured artifacts in our scientist's notebook straight from our mealworm vials.
Another mealworm hatching into a darkling beetle.
These mathematicians are so skilled at writing equivalent names for any number! They use a lot of variety!
When we go our to recess on our own the kids love the chance to play Gaga.
This partnership is working together on their BHH (Book, Head, Heart) thinking about a fun Halloween story by Mark Teague.
In library Ms. Luchies helped us participate in Global Read Aloud with kids all over our country.
After you choose your library books there's not much better than getting the tiny sofa to read on with a pal!
In writing workshop we learned to revise (see the pen additions on the bottom and the sticky note addition at the top)!
All students had an individual conference with Mrs. Pols to set one or two important goals for improving our writing.
At the bottom of this page this author revised by adding on how he felt about his upcoming flu shot.
More Global Read Aloud fun with Ms. Luchies in the Media Center.
We practiced identifying name collection boxes without the number identified for us ahead of time.
An example of some of our BHH thinking
