Highlights of the Week

This week we wrote  poems about topics that carry meaning for us!

This group works with Mrs. Pols on finding information in our Scholastic News issue about rainbow plants.

Partners share their new poems with each other.

We used trapezoids and pattern block templates to create different seating formations.

Array bingo is a great way to practice multiplication  and repeated addition.

After our fascinating Scholastic News issue about Orangutans, we worked to fill in a chart about the main idea and details of the text.

Proud daughter with her Mother's Day poem!We love our moms!

On Friday morning Lee from Om Kids did our first lesson on mindfulness.  We practiced mindful breathing and listening.  The kids were an amazing audience and picked up on the idea quickly.  We are excited to learn more next week.

It was so nice to see the sun at recess 3 days this week.  We made sure to get out there and enjoy it as many mornings as we could.

Going back into a text to find information is an important comprehension skills that requires continual practice.

After our session with Lee we were able to record how we did.

Each child has their own poetry book or "anthology" to fill with poems.

We spent a lot of time identifying what type of feet a bird has and how it tells us where they live and what they do.

We also studied birds' beaks.  This helps us know that they eat.
