Bird Expedition Gallery Walk

Our class spent 45 minutes on Tuesday building interest and background knowledge for our new unit on birds.  We had many nests and feathers (thank you parents for collecting and sending them in), books, magazines, tri-folds with colorful photographs, stuffed birds who sang out bird calls, and two live web cams of birds on their nests (a great blue heron and an osprey).  Students walked around our "gallery" with notecatchers on clipboards and recorded their observations, sketches and questions.  This built a lot of excitement for this unit, which will take us through the end of the year!
