Reading workshops this week have combined social studies, reading and writing. Our focus was to honor Black History Month through a series of quality books. Throughout the week we read about Harriet Tubman, Jackie Robinson, Ruby Bridges, and Rosa Parks. Students began to learn to write a “constructed response.” This entails answering a question about a text with complete sentences and examples from the book. Lots of great effort went into this work. We were proud of the rich conversations students engaged in; they felt strongly that all people should have equal rights!
