Building Background Knowledge about Maps and Early Transportation

To get ready to launch into our transportation study we conducted inquiry centers.  Each center related to our unit.  One was with photographs and books, one had students use technology to see a short video on transportation over time, and another focused on geography work/landforms.   Students used note catchers with guiding questions to record their thinking as they spent time at each center.
