Highlights of the Week

We read many of Paul Janezcko's poems and practiced identifying and defining the rich language in the poems.

Students worked with writing partners to figure out topic for their final informational book; a topic they love that has a tie-in to force and motion

This week we read the first chapter book by our favorite author, Mo Willems.  It was a big hit!

In math this week we practiced solving multi-step word problems and then revised our work to make it stronger.

Students helped me create this list to help them plan their new informational books about self-chosen topics

We had some fun in the snow at recess!

Paul Janeczko tells us about himself.

He taught us that poems are wherever you are.

Mr. Janezcko writes three pages every morning to warm up.  He has between 80 and 100 notebooks like this!

One of our own students held up a draft from one of his books, while he showed us the "galley."

Paul answers our questions.

Our Scholastic News issue focused on the snow leopard and how its adaptations help it survive.  Students went back to the text to find the specific way each adaptation helps the snow leopard live its life.
