Highlights of the Week

Students get ready to order from the menu at The Dr. Seuss Cafe!

Second graders flocked to the display of Dr. Seuss books during DEAR time this week.

Mrs. Longbottom got us special Dr. Seuss treats to kick off the week of reading celebrations!

In math we explored solving subtraction word problems in various ways.

Clay work with Mrs. Devin.  Soon to be painted!

Partners practice subtraction facts with Rocket Math

Our Scholastic News magazine taught us a lot about the fabulous Dr. Seuss!

In math we learned to draw arrays and write repeated addition sentences AND multiplication facts.

Lots of fun measuring in math with our tool kit tape measures this week.

On Wednesday our guest reader was Carey Clark, mom of one of our students.  She read us two great books and talked to us about the joys and importance of reading!

Wacky Wednesday outfits!

This small group worked on finding evidence in a text about Helen Keller.

We had a good time visiting several Dr. Seuss sites on the i-pads.

Our welcome to the Dr. Seuss Cafe

How cute are these snacks?!

The 6th grade fed us and read to us.

Books and food - big smiles!

On Monday when our invitation arrived the kids were thrilled.  Such a lovely tradition at WCS.

We decorated our door to celebrate the week.

We practiced lots of map skills throughout the week.

Students wrote thank you letters to the 6th grade for hosting us at the Dr. Seuss Cafe.

We are working on opinion writing - through book recommendation letters.

Students are using these spelling lists on their desks to help build
accountability for high frequency words when they write.

Another version of "Must Know Words."  Everyone has a list to fit their current spelling needs.
