Highlights of the Week

We watched the season's first snow fall outside our window during reading time on Monday.  So we put on our winter gear and went outside for a walk in it!

This week in Reading Workshop we learned how to create mental images while we listened to a story.

Mrs. Harrington is lighting up a wishing tree.  We wrote our own wishes for the world to add to the tree.

In math we played a version of the game "Top It" to help us use symbols to compare numbers.

Some serious effort went into snowball and snowmen making on Wednesday's recess.

Mrs. Devin helps us explore art in our biweekly Visual Arts Thinking session.  Such great discussion focused on a painting!

On Friday we had some in class art time to make fun snowmen decorations for the hallway and our classroom walls.

Our informational writing work has begun.  Students started their own All About Books!

Lots of planning went into the first book.  We brainstormed chapters and section ideas before we began to write.

We found out it's a lot of work to make your own Table of Contents.

Students wrote an introduction to their book.

These are samples of  pages in a book about cats.
