Highlights of the Week

In reading workshop we analyzed dialogue to tell us how it showed a character's thoughts and feelings.

As part of our social studies unit we investigated texts that told us why early settlers needed to travel.

The kids began PE class by running two warm up laps.  Blurry photo because they are FAST!

After reading about the conditions of early roads long ago, students wrote "exit slips" telling two facts they had learned.

We had lots of interesting conversation about  this week's Scholastic News, "The Truth About Sugar."

This week we finished Kate Egan's Magic Shop series.  We loved all four books.  Kate is Mrs. Pols's neighbor and dear friend.  We are currently writing letters to Kate and have our fingers crossed that she might come visit us.

Luckily, there's always a new, wonderful read aloud around the corner .  We began The Cat Pack Series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor and the kids are already smitten!

The book display was full of a variety of fun series books this week and the kids had a ball exploring new characters.
