Highlights of the Week

In our unit 8 open response problem we had to find ways to make a quadrilateral with only two right angles.

The cafeteria was decorated each day for Eat the Rainbow Week.

Students identified attributes of 3-D shapes and practiced comparing and contrasting them.

Kids read fairy tales in small groups and charted their thinking about common fairy tale elements.

We used blocks to tile surfaces and partition larger shapes into equal squares.

Students record observations about bird photos on their note catcher during our Gallery Walk.

We also explored feathers and books.

There were lots of nests to examine.

During the Gallery Walk students watched a trio of barred owls in Illinois on the bird cam.

Each student sketched, wrote observations and questions as they explored a variety of bird related artifacts.

We solved equal group number stories in a variety of ways.

Students practiced strategies for multiplication number stories.

This group worked on a fairy tale chart together after enjoying the story.

On Friday we investigated what makes a bird a bird.

It's fun to read with a friend!

We learned about defense mechanisms in caterpillars.

Friday's rainbow tray.  We are so lucky to have our wonderful PTA and Wellness Committee!

Ms. Luchies introduced us to a great tech tool called flip grid.  We got to see videos about birds by an expert and we made our own video to answer a question he posed.  More to come!

Students filled out reflections on Eat the Rainbow Week.  So many new foods tried.  Such good, healthy eaters in 2-P.  Proud of how they took risks and gobbled up lots of healthy fruits and veggies!
