On Friday we read an informational text and began to discuss the features that make it nonfiction.  Next week our reading workshops will focus entirely on nonfiction books!

We used these genre posters to help us figure out what genre we were reading throughout the week.

As students write their realistic fiction series they are having fun naming and describing their characters!

This student shows off a beautiful cover to there realistic fiction book that she put a lot of time into!

Finished unit 3 math assessment work?  Time for a game and snack with friends!

Playing domino top it

These kids are practicing their spelling words by doing "Rainbow Words" with different colored crayons.  It made practicing spelling a bit more fun!

Some of the kids decided to practice their spelling words orally with a partner for extra practice.

At the beginning of the week we read a book in a very familiar genre that we've been writing ourselves:  realistic fiction.  Iris and Walter is a sweet series about two best friends who are about the age of our second graders.
