Highlights of the Week

Students had the opportunity to go back and REVISE their math thinking and written explanations to make their work stronger.

This group conducts trials on the force and motion experiment.

Gathering data of car speed off a ramp onto carpet for our lab reports

Mrs. Harrington made a wishing arbor in the atrium.  Here are our wishes for the world.

Using a yard stick to measure a car's distance off a ramp.

Recording distances on our data table in lab report booklets

We went to the gym to conduct our experiment with cars and ramps on bare floor.

Great reading about bears in our Scholastic News this week.  We learned about their hibernation rituals and practiced using text features from the article on day 2.  We learned a new word: hibernaculum!

Students explore math reference books for information on measuring techniques.

We loved reading this book, How Big is A Foot? to help us understand the need for standard measurements.

Students used "foot-long" tools to do approximate measures of class objects.

Mrs. Devin led us through observation and discussion in VTS (visual thinking strategies).

Planning a new experiment in science teams

Scientists creating a new experiment to test out

Setting up ramps and writing procedures for conducting our second experiment
