Highlights of the Week

This Open Response problem in math had us thinking deeply about whether we could use the turnaround rule for subtraction.  Students wrote subtraction number stories and then had to see if they could write a turn-around fact that matched the story and made sense.

In Reading Workshop we are are practicing retelling a story in sequential order with important details.

Our first beetles have hatched!

Celebrating a birthday with delicious blueberry muffins!

Fun and sun at "Walk-At-School" Day

Another birthday is celebrated!  We made cards and sang to our October friends.

Students set goals with Mrs. Pols so they could focus on one particular  area as they write.

Keeping warm my moving on the track.

Students play a game to help them practice odd/even numbers.

We kept shedded skin from our mealworms on a page in our scientist's notebook.  It looks pretty interesting with a magnifying glass.

Students recorded observations about our new beetles.

In music we played drums!
