Highlights of the Week

We went back to the cafeteria for a shorter experiment on a BIG catapult a former parent donated to us.

This is the BIG catapult.  We experimented with whether a golf ball or ping pong ball would go farther off of it.  We were mighty surprised when the golf ball was the big winner with almost 500 inches of distance.

We read about George Washington and his winter at Valley Forge.   The second graders were pretty sure they could have handled such a tough winter!

We practiced reading timelines with our Scholastic News issue as well.

For our third catapult experiment each team redesigned their experiment to get more distance.

On Friday we read some fun Groundhog Day stories.

Sports Day!

Reading with a friend is always nice.

These students are reading about Rosa Parks on Readworks!

After designing our new catapult we had to explain the changes we made and form a new hypothesis.

This group of scientists decided a higher catapult was the key to success.

Explaining the new design!

And another new catapult with a special block configuration to angle the spoon just right

A strong hypothesis with science thinking to back it up!
