Highlights of the Week

We measured "crooked paths" on the rug in inches with our measuring tools.

We used centimeter cubes and centimeter rulers to get familiar with the size of this unit of measure.

As we build background knowledge about force and motion we did a Mystery Science lesson about simple machines.  Students are practicing being a digging machine in this photo.

We tried to replicate what shoveling a hole for a pool would be like if we did it by hand.
Then we practiced as if we were the excavator which was much more efficient.

In writing we began All About Books.  This page represents a student's page in a snowboarding book and tells about the equipment needed for this sport.

Students "tried on" different topics before choosing their favorite.

Next they planned the chapters or sections.

Each student made a cover....

and a numbered table of contents.  We've been reading informational texts for weeks so all of our exposure helped us with this process.
