Week 5 Highlights

Ms. McCauley teaching us about how we take care of the natural world around us.  The kids had many great ideas for being a good steward of nature!

We checked out the Outdoor Classroom space with her.

Practicing math facts during Rocket Math time

Partners helping each other master addition facts

In reading workshop we shared our thinking about books we'd read.

Students learned how to mark pages to keep track of parts they had comments about.

We played a doubles game on Friday to master our doubles facts.

Earlier in the week we learned to play the Money Exchange game to learn how to trade ones, tens and hundreds.

During math we learned the 3 parts of a number story and practiced writing our own.

Students observed a bee brought in by one of our young entomologists.

Week 4 mealworms!

We began Reader's Notebooks this week - a permanent record of our thinking about books we read.

On Friday we finished our first whole group read aloud, James and the Giant Peach.  The kids LOVED It.  After finishing we all drew and labeled our favorite parts from the story.
