Weekly News for 2-P 6-3-22
*We will be resuming our tradition of Beach Day for grades 1 AND 2 at Reid State Park on June 14th. If you would like to join us please be sure to fill out a volunteer form and return it to school right away. If you filled it out earlier this year you are all set!
*Be sure to return the Beach Day form so I know if your child needs a bag lunch that day.
*In math we worked on fact fluency, multiplication with 5s and 10s, problem solving and lots of telling time work. We continued to work on our individual target areas in IXL to strengthen various skills and concepts.
*Our literacy and science time continued to be intertwined with our research. On Tuesday we finished our loon posters. Then we began our last project; individual research on a bird of our choice. Students spent time selecting a bird and then used Pebble Go or bird guides to find out all they could about their bird. They took notes on their note catcher, which they are so independent with now! This time students typed their report in Google Docs and loved learning to do this. They then practiced quality drawings of their bird. Mrs. Pols will be turning these into bookmarks with their report/artwork. SO much hard work and perseverance this week!
*Our spelling focus was th words. Next week we tackle homophones. We also worked on adverbs, adjectives, common/proper nouns, possessive nouns and lots of editing practice.
