Weekly News 6-16-23

 Weekly News for 2-P 6-16-23

*Our Beach Trip is next Tuesday - please check your child’s folder for a very important packing list on green paper.

Tuesday: Beach Day

Wednesday: Step Up Day (PM)

Thursday: Last Day - half day, dismissal at 12

*In math we continued to review important foundational skills, worked on multiplication and time/money.  Our ability to perform double digit addition and subtraction is improving so much! We worked on a fun Math Mystery all week, solving math problems that unlocked riddles and clues to help us plug our way through a “Graduation Gremlins” puzzle. It was a fun change of pace and the kids loved being detectives.

*Students chose and researched a bird of their choice. They wrote a report from their notes, practiced drawing realistic pictures of their bird and typed their own report in Google Docs. I will turn these into bookmarks. You will be amazed by all their projects. Second graders have been doing other self-chosen writing projects (narrative, poetry, realistic fiction). We have also been working on our memory books and writing letters to the third grade teachers.

*Our spelling focus was review work. We worked on -are and -air patterns in phonics.

*We are starting to clear out our lockers and desks a bit at a time. If you can send a plastic bag or a recyclable grocery bag next week it will help your child carry some extra items home.
