Highlights of the Week

I was going to take work sample pictures of our awesome lab reports today, so I could include them here, but Mother Nature had other ideas!  Stay tuned next week for some images of our newest type of writing.
Making discoveries on our Outdoor Classroom adventure!

Looking for evidence of animals finding winter protection

Ms. McCauley helps us find evidence of animal life in the woods.

Students knew from our reading of the book Under the Snow how to look for signs of animal life in the woods.

This group of scientists is measuring how far their car went off the ramp.

Busily recording data in their lab report booklets

Each group set up their experiment and did 4 trial runs to collect data.

In reading workshop we began tracking our reading tastes with a genre wheel.  Many students tried new types of books this week.  Great to see them branching out!

Every time they read a book they filled in a circle on their genre wheel according to the type of book they read. Great way for them to keep track o f their reading!

After testing our experiment on our class carpet, we took the experiment to the gym to try it out on bare floor.

We found out we had to do a lot more measuring as the cars went much FARTHER on the gym floor.
